Reason # 831 why Anberlin is awesome...

I'm totally in love with the new version of iTunes (8.0), specifically the "Genius" feature. Similar to Pandora.com, which takes music that you like and creates a custom "radio station" of similar music, iTunes can now make a custom playlist from your library based on whatever song you put into it.

As an experiment, I put in Death Cab For Cutie's "Brothers on a Hotel Bed", and iTunes created a playlist for me with bands like The Format, Snow Patrol, The Shins, Sufjan Stevens, The Postal Service, and Copeland, all bands that are in my existing library and are similar to Death Cab. I feel like this would be great for parties if you're trying to get a certain theme going.

Finally, a sidebar will pop up, linking you to recommended songs in the iTunes store not already in your library for you to preview or buy. Now if only they could somehow get this to work on the iPod...



I also just started watching Dexter after putting it off for way too long. I feel like I'm quickly going to get addicted.

I'm not sure how many people still read this, or if this post will yield any results at all, but it's definitely worth a shot.

I'm planning to move to New York in Novemeber and currently have no clue as to where I'm going to live. Does anyone know of people who are looking for a roommate, even if it's just for a few weeks/months? Even a couch to crash on would work until I can land on my feet and get my own place; I'm willing to chip in on rent.
