Empires- Howl

Based on my love and interest in free music, and new music in general, I'm not sure why I never posted this, but here's a really cool new band I heard recently who seem to have a ton of promise. By my nature, I'm always a bit skeptical of free stuff, especially a full 15-song LP, but I think Empires' Howl is the real deal. Kind of an interesting mix of Fall Out Boy, The Killers, and other power-pop with certain Michael Jackson-esque twinges here and there.

I've been listening to it for about a month and suggest you do the same.

If you don't know there's been a trampoline in the room, you won't dust the ceiling for prints.

Got this in the mail today. I guess it's finally official.

So the 7 of us had a great time on our inaugural Central Division Tour. 8 baseball games and 3413 miles later, here are the pictures: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DLH9BW0B. Click on the link, type in the 3 letters at the top of the screen, then wait about 45 seconds for the download link.

It begins.

Right now I'm sitting in an RV watching two semi-grown men playing Guitar Hero on Wii with a beer in my hand. The beginning of this story is that Joe, Scott, Steve, Jeff, Cole, Bryan, Ryan, and I left this morning on our 9-day, 7-baseball game, 3200 mile RV road trip/trip of a lifetime.

It turns out Joe managed to pilfer a wireless internet card from his job, so it looks like we'll have intermittent internet access on the trip. Being a group of 7 young guys in the 21st century, the logical result is that we started a blog. I'll periodically be posting stuff on here, and will do a huge photo dump at the end, but until then, check out daily updates at http://centraldivisiontour2008.blogspot.com/. Fuckin' blog it!

AE

Download a brand new free EP by Ace Enders (formerly of The Early November) at http://www.fuse.tv/music/the-worm/. Ace's new album, which is one of my most anticipated records of the year, has been delayed until the Fall, so the dude was kind enough to release a free digital EP in the meantime to tide people over. Check out this free EP, and if you like it, be sure to check out his debut full length sometime later this year.

Ixnay on the Rapcay

The Offspring is one of my favorite bands of all-time, and I'll always remember the first time I heard their album Smash while in Florida on vacation probably when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I've been a big fan ever since, and have bought all their albums in the 13 or so years since. However, their last two albums,Conspiracy of One and Splinter, have tested my patience a bit, mainly with a large amount of jokey, gimmicky songs, but the new album looks like it's gonna kick all kinds of ass. Stream Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, due out June 17th at http://www.imeem.com/theoffspring/playlist/H-rX4DtI/rise_and_fall_rage_and_grace_music_playlist/. I don't think you'll be disappointed, and it's nice to see these guys returning to their roots.

/Shameless plug.

I also want to apologize for the lack of legit updates lately. Everything seems to be a link for new music, but hey, I don't have too much going on in my life right now. I'm feeling great, and am now (hopefully) towards the end of the incredibly drawn-out job-search process. A bunch of friends and I are embarking on an 8-day road trip this weekend to a bunch of baseball games, so hopefully that will provide some blog-fodder. I'm bringing my digital camera, as well as my Flip video camera, so I'm sure I'll have some goodies to post. If I don't post soon after returning on June 21st, I probably died while whitewater rafting in Colorado.
